St. Matthew School is an AdvancED accredited school
In the Diocese of Metuchen the Catholic Schools adapt the Common Core State Standards of New Jersey. We take the core curriculum of our state and teach it in and through the lenses of our Catholic faith and values. The Diocese runs a K-12 system of schools, St. Matthews School has coeducational classes from pre-K through grade 8. We strive to provide a rich and challenging program for all students. We honor the students’ diversity of learning styles through the use of a variety of teaching styles, strategies and materials. The integration of all of the arts of language – reading, writing, listening and speaking – permeates all of our content areas. We use the tools of technology to enhance and enrich our curriculum. We view music, art, physical education and world languages as basic areas of study.
St. Matthew School has successfully administered instructional model, along with the Diocese of Metuchen, since 2016 that increases student engagement and comprehension through the use of technology and classroom instruction that meets the needs of individual students. Students in grades K-5 continue to develop divergent thinking and problem solving skills in two unique learning labs; a Discovery Room for children in K-2 and an Engineering Lab for students in 3-5.
